Reading Luke ch 22 v 7-20 followed by a talk by Leah Bates given during the St.Georges SIX service on the 10th November 2019. Memories shape our identity, so we can take what's good and stand against what's bad to find ways of shaping our future realities in ways that are more just, peaceful and loving, both for our time and for future generations. When we join together to remember Jesus at the Lord's Supper, we are sharing as community in one body where all are loved.

Luke 22:7-20
John tells a story about remembering and then moves on to recount how important it was and is to Jews to remember their history through a cycle of festival days. Jesus gives us a re-interpretation of the Passover in the last supper as he institutes what we know as our communion service. Remembering is important but it is to be a springboard for today and for the future. John points to the OT reading that indicates that whatever we face now we can rely on God's goodness from our past knowledge of Him.

Richard closes our series on church culture by developing the theme of the church being a loving community based on a common purpose. He used the SA Rugby captain's words following their victory to reflect on the impact of a sharing community with a clear purpose to overcome human difficulties. The early church had them, as did the Apostles, but in the power of the Spirit the differences were overcome with love. The same is true to today as we move our fellowship forward in the power of shared love.

Readings Proverbs ch15 v4 and James ch3 v15 incorporated into a talk by Shirlyn Beetham followed by an interview with Hannah and a talk by Rosemary Bull given during the St.Georges SIX service on 27th October 2019. Empathy for others is vital for communication and relationships. Truly saying "sorry" can heal a broken relationship, but also opens a spiritual channel. Think carefully and take time to rehearse before responding to someone, and listen for God's words to affirm people.
