Lady Day 2011

Over 20 Ashtead Branch members attended the Annual Lady Day Eucharist at Guildford Cathedral on 25th March. The service was lead by Canon Angela Weaver, Canon Pastor at the Cathedral, and Rev Jeremy Cresswell, our Diocesan Chaplain. Our speaker was Felicity Hawke our Mothers’ Union President of the Province of Canterbury. At least 600 members from Branches around the Diocese were present.

The Service was preceded and closed by the procession of Diocesan Banners, Ashtead’s carried by Trish Heywood. We were proud that Kim Darby one of our newest members was invited to carry the Diocesan Banner. They both were a credit to our Branch.

During the service, large baskets containing donations from branches towards the Literacy Fund were presented. The total given is still being added to and may reach £4000 – what a result!!

The day was enhanced by glorious weather, as the photos on the steps of the Cathedral show.
