United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel
 Initially for settlers in North America the title above continued Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts. It now has contacts and representatives in over 50 countries where those travelling from the UK to work in dioceses overseas live on the same financial basis as the local clergy and staff.
In Ashtead Parish we support Saulo and Ruth de  Barros - pictured here, and also on mission notice board in St George’s. Saulo is bishop of the local diocese, Ruth his wife is from the UK. They have one child.
Their work covers many aspects of life in a Brazilian context with tensions caused by life in a community of very wealthy and very poor. Their contacts with youth groups inspire confidence for the future.
