A Big Thank You to all my Supporters
I have just returned from an amazing five days of trekking and camping in the mountains of the Sinai Desert in Egypt in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. You may remember my ‘name the camel’ stall at Ashtead Village Day in June and my photographic exhibition in September both in aid of this sponsored trek.
I was trekking with 47 other people all of whom had raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society. It was a wonderful group and we were well supported by the local team including our 6 camels.
The trek was quite a challenge and I thought of all my sponsors at times to keep me going! We climbed Mount Sinai, a 3 hour climb in the dark after just 2 hours sleep, to see a vibrant sunrise. The scenery generally was mountainous and spectacular and I felt very privileged to be there. I was elated to find I was fit enough to reach the finish fit and well!
I am enormously grateful to everyone who supported me including Ashtead Rotary who helped with my Village Day stall and publicity for my exhibitions.
Dementia is a devastating disease on the increase and much needs to be done. If you would like to support me, please visit www.justgiving.com/marianguess or phone 01372 273680 for information about how to donate.
