May I add my own thanks and appreciation for your support for Evans over these past three years? It has been truly remarkable to see this vision come to fulfilment and to see this young man now realising the dream that God placed in his heart so long ago.
I was hoping to be present for Evans’ graduation but sadly that was not possible. It must have been quite an occasion! I have enclosed some pictures of the event. We were also hoping that he might visit Ashtead this summer, but again, we felt the timing wasn’t right. Hopefully we can do this next year when he will have more of a story to tell after having a year in ministry since graduation.
There have been over 30 people from Ashtead supporting Evans through his training which was the initial commitment. For this I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart; but more importantly give God the glory that this vision has been fulfilled!
Where to now? Clearly Evans has on-going needs, especially at the start of his ministry. There is a church to build and a small business to run! We hope we might be able to help fund the new church through our regular donations to Zion Harvest Mission from World Mission. As far as his business is concerned, Evans has sent me a thoroughly worked-out business plan which requires around £5000 to get fully established. I have already sent him the residue of his training fund (a little over £1000) for him to get started, but this means that he now has no regular support from us.
If you wish to continue your support in any way, obviously that would be greatly appreciated, but the initial commitment you have given has now run its course. I would be grateful if you could let me know whether or not you wish to continue being involved in the following ways:
1. Continue to receive his occasional prayer letter
2. Continue to contribute to his support fund
3. Contribute a one-off love gift towards helping him establish his grocery shop
4. Cease your involvement altogether
Whatever you decide, may I again express my deepest gratitude for journeying with me in this wonderful story of changing the life of one young man in Kenya.
