An Exhibition of Photographs by Marian Guess with ALL PROCEEDS going to her sponsored trek for the Alzheimer's Society.

My name is Marian Guess and some of you may remember me as a GP in Ashtead some 20 years ago! I am now a retired doctor and have a little more time.

I am doing a sponsored trek from Mount Sinai to the Red Sea in Egypt in November to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. I am doing this because of my first hand experience of being a carer for my mother. She has dementia and lived with me because of it for a number of years. There is a real need for research funds as well as money to support carers and promote education and awareness. Dementia is a time bomb especially with an aging population and so little is known about the causes and treatment. The illness can be very distressing for not only the patient but carers,
friends and relatives too.

The prospect of trekking in the Sinai Desert is very appealing to me because of the history of the area and the general landscape and terain. I just have to get fit enough to do it!

I have been fund raising all year and so far have just under £3000. I am aiming for at least £5000. I have been a keen amateur photographer for a number of years and thought that perhaps I could put on a small exhibition in my house to raise funds.

The suggested entry donation is £2.50 to include tea/coffee/soft drink/home made cakes/biscuits.

There will be hand made photo cards for sale and prints will be for sale or order.

There will also be information about the Alzheimer's Society, information about the trek and sponsorship forms.
