The thunder and lightning didn’t stop Wheels for the World supporters from raising £880 at our Summer Garden Party on Friday 24th July. Pam’s home-baked scones and cakes were enjoyed with a cup of tea in the marquee while browsing the beautifully handcrafted jewellery, designed by Alexa, Stephanie and Emily Elstub.
Appealingly decorated cupcakes, generously donated by Rosie Whicher, enticed visitors to guess the weight of a giant cupcake and the children (and adults!) used their imagination to find hidden treasure!
The money raised will be given to Wheels for the World for future wheelchair distribution trips. As well going to Ghana in October 2009 there are planned trips to Kimilili and Nyeri in Kenya and the first wheelchair distribution to Uganda in 2010.
We had a wonderful afternoon and are very grateful to so many for their generosity of time, money and cakes! – what a wonderful team you are!
We look forward to our next event at the Worldwide Charities Fair at St George’s Christian Centre on Saturday 14th November.
