Cafe ALDAG is open!

ALDAG is a Christian organization which seeks to reach out and serve the communityaldag logo and to be a witness to the love of God for all. We are a group of people, local to Ashtead, who wish to support young people with learning difficulties.

Taking its inspiration from the young people themselves, ALDAG aims to support and encourage young people with learning difficulties to achieve fulfilling lives within their local community.

lucy and josephYoung people with learning difficulties growing into adulthood may go to special colleges and then on to day centres for the duration of their adult life. This environment restricts their opportunity to engage with society at large. Café ALDAG provides an opportunity for our young people to develop work skills whilst making a positive contribution to their local community.

After weeks of training and practice runs, Café ALDAG went live last Monday 8th September and at one stage every seat was taken! The young people are enjoying the work, meeting the public and working with each other. Customer feedback is that they like the quality of the food and service, as well as the general atmosphere of the Café.

Café ALDAG is open every Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 2.30pm in St Cafe ALDAGGeorge’s Christian Centre. Do pop in even if it’s just for a coffee.
